Roy Edward Larsen, born on April 20, 1899, and passed away on September 9, 1979, was a long-time executive of Time, Inc. Furthermore, he was a great conservationist and one of the co-founders of the Nantucket Conservation Foundation, established in 1963. He was also elected to the board of The Nature Conservancy. In recognition of his contributions, a memorial plaque was placed in Larsen Park in Nantucket.
This tiny park in the heart of Siasconset Village – 6 Elbow Lane – has benches and picnic tables where you can take a break from a day of exploring, catch up with friends, or have a summer picnic. It is accessible to those with disabilities and has parking available around.
The Nantucket Conservation Foundation and the Siasconset Civic Assn. have worked together to create pollinator gardens with native plants, making this park even more inviting. Plus, it’s just steps away from the Sconset Footbridge and the entrance to the Sconset Bluff Walk, so you can easily take in the sights.
